Ever since the creation of eBay it has been the most popular auction site on the planet, however since recent price hikes, policy updates and constant changes, sellers are beginning to look for alternative selling venues.

We have compiled this list of most current alternative auction sites similar to eBay, although none will have the same amount of buyers and sellers as eBay enjoys. Unless we, buyers and sellers, try other venues, eBay will always be a virtual monopoly and they will be able to charge whatever they wish, knowing we have little in the way of alternative options.

QXL UK & QXL USA- Are one of the longest standing auction sites (after ebay of course!), share prices have recently soared since the company went private in a buyout deal of over Ł12m! ($22m), i'm hoping to see a change for the better in the near future.	InternetBid - is a free internet auction site aimed at people who want the ease of selling on-line, without the large fees charged by other on-line auction sites. There's currently only 1 active listing on the whole site.
SpecialistAuctions - The whole concept of Vujoo & therefore SpecialistAuctions, is based around communities. The concept revolves around leveraging support within these communities and creating a safe & cost effective environment where communities can interact.	Preloved - is an online classified advertising website, covering the whole of the UK & Ireland. It was founded in 1998 and has many thousands of second hand items for sale in over 500 categories. What makes Preloved unique is the opportunity it provides for enthusiasts and collectors to gather together as a community.

FLOGITALL - This is a relatively new and still has a lot of work to do in order to be unique, the layout is the standard auction site template and the owners don't seem to have ironed out all the flaws, one to watch for the future!	ONEWAY - This is a refreshing site with a different template than the rest, a lot of work has been put into it but it still seems to lack a good amount of buyers, but with over 1/2 a million active listings there could be some bargains to be had!
DEALGATES UK & DEALGATES USA - Seem to be more than your usual 'wanna be ebay' with a whole network including 5 major countries and over 19m current listings and ads it's definitely one to watch and could be a big contender in the online auction industry!	AVABID - Seem to be going steady with 1000's of listings and a decent user base, however it's off-putting when the landing page is asking for a fee to transfer feedback from ebay! It could be a haven for scammers!
Auctionair - We think our system is like reintroducing the Souk as a 21^st century selling system. When you barter in a Souk, the price you end up paying is the one you are happy with. It is not the same as the price the next person pays. AUCTIONS UNITED - This site claims to be one of the "worlds safest auction site", however the first 3 auctions I found were all for counterfeit dvds, I personally think allowing counterfeit items to be sold is a step closer to failure!
GBAUCTIONS - have adopted various policies aimed to make the use of this site more Buyer Friendly. We have limited the ownership of onsite stores to a maximum of 4 per category and the restriction of duplicate listings of items by sellers. We also operate a stringent user verification process	SWAPZ - is the place to swap anything in the United Kingdom and worldwide. At this convenient swap shop you can search for almost anything you need, and, when you come here, you can count on having a successful swap meet - whatever it is you are trying to swap!

CABOOT - The site is currently showing very, very few listings and little traffic, that amongst the overuse of affiliate advertising put me off straight away, but it could be one for your favourites!	WEBIDZ - "In order to sell on the WeBidz site, users must first become verified. There is a one time fee of $5.00", in my experience this is never a great start!
LGGAUCTIONS - Aim is to cater for the new breed of Auction user. LGGAUCTIONS is full featured with speed and security in mind we push to make your online auction experience as enjoyable and safe as possible.	Groupgain - What makes GroupGain so unique is that, unlike traditional e-commerce/auctions sites, Buyers collaborate in order to reduce a product’s price instead of bidding against anonymous shoppers while the price only increases.
Totalbids - is the UK’s completely FREE online auction site where you can sign up, buy, sell and even open a shop for free. We don’t charge any fees for registration, buying, listing or selling. Bid-Alot - We have NO FVF's! We only charge $2.00 per month for sellers to advertise their goods. This is a small advertising fee for less than the price of a cup of coffee. We also have a classified ads section if you wish to submit a classified ad. We support and raise funds for medical aids and supplies for the severely disabled. It;s a relatively new site using the basic auction template but looks promising and already has a decent number of active listings, buyers and sellers	Elfingo - An alternative auction site for sellers who are tired of paying huge fees and commissions to sell at online auctions. We do not charge any commissions or closing fees whatsoever, a small .15˘ per item listing fee is all we ask for ANY item.
